MJ & ATLANTIS "SHARPIE"

Megan is a nationally-acclaimed equestrian competitor from the Pacific Northwest, and a consistent champion in both the Grand Prix and Hunter rings, having accumulated numerous titles in her professional career.  She grew up on a thoroughbred breeding/training ranch, where her parents were both competitive sport horse riders and trainers.  As such, Megan has only rarely been out of the saddle, regularly competing on various breeds in multiple disciplines.

From her youthful indoctrination, Megan developed a unique capacity to work with horses and riders of all levels of experience and differing backgrounds.  This allows her to evaluate their needs and create a custom training program to meet the needs of both horse and rider.  Megan has a natural gift for developing  and showcasing show jumping talent.

From Short Stirrup to the Grand Prix ring, Megan and the professional staff at Venture Farm will help you to develop and ultimately reach your riding goals.

Madelyn Lemus

Madelyn Lemus (she/her) was born and raised in California, where she rode a horse for the first time at age 4 tagging along to lessons with her older sister. The love was immediate.

Madelyn began showing in high school with her school’s Interscholastic Equestrian Association team, where she earned a national champion title for equitation over fences in her freshman year. She continued showing on the A-circuit in the hunter, jumper, and equitation rings. While training at multiple show barns, she developed the skills to work with young horses along their journey from pasture to the show ring. She has had the fortune of improving her skills under the training of top clinicians including George Morris and Anne Kursinski. Outside of training, she spent her remaining free time volunteering at therapeutic riding centers.

She began teaching beginner and intermediate lessons while away at college, working towards earning her bachelors degrees in Psychology and Philosophy at Loyola Marymount University. Since graduating, she has spent the past 5 years working in tech, which brought her to seek riding again to spend more time outside.

With a strong show background and interest in education, Madelyn is excited to share her passion for horses with riders of all levels.

MARIA & SHARPIE

Maria is Venture Farm's jill of all trades - we're so lucky to have her on our team! Maria is studying Veterinary Science at OSU and spends her free time learning the ropes at Venture Farms as a working student.

During the summers, Maria works diligently grooming for us at home, as well as on the road as our show groom. A few skills she has gained in her time with us so far are braiding, body clipping in the winter, and teaching beginner lessons.

Maria has built a strong connection with Sharpie, who looks forward to his visits from his "kid" ! He trusts her so much that he has allowed her to learn to jump with him! We can't wait to see this pair continue to grow!

Howard Gass

Howard was an intuitive horseman.  He was a leader in the show jumping industry.  He brought together the very best Thoroughbreds and developed entire lines of these wonderful horses that excelled in show jumping.  Most famous of these lines was a stallion named "Lasting Wind".  Lasting Wind produced many of the days National Champions.

Margie Gass

Margie has been by Megan's side since the beginning.  She was an accomplished show jumping rider in her own right.  It was often said that Howard "prepared" the horses for the show ring and Margie "piloted" them to many great successes.  She accompanied Megan from show to show and everything in between...including a summer on the Pendleton Round-Up court.  All of this support gave Megan the experience and confidence to become the successful trainer she is today!
